About the role:
As a critical member of our dynamic Data Strategy team, you will be instrumental in bridging the gap between business and technology. Your role will involve translating data analysis needs into actionable data models, blending business acumen with technical expertise to support strategic decision-making. In collaboration with an array of internal and external partners, you'll shape and sustain our data workflows, ensuring unparalleled data quality, integrity, and accessibility. By leveraging your architectural expertise, you will help our organization achieve its strategic goals through reliable data transformation and integration. You will be responsible for implementing data pipelines, optimizing data infrastructure, and collaborating with global teams on data architecture projects to support a cohesive, integrated ecosystem. This position promises a journey filled with opportunities to illustrate your technical expertise, business insights, and collaborative spirit in a growing data-driven environment and will allow you to make a difference at the core of our organization's strategic roadmap.

The role reports directly to the Data Strategy Lead and will work closely with other teams such as, business insights, information technology, and therapeutic areas.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and deploy data pipelines for new local data sources.
  • Translate business requirements into meaningful data models to organize and structure data in a way that is useful for analysis (ARDs, RRDs).
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure data integrity, availability, and security across the organization.
  • Automate manual processes using the tools at your disposal, through workflows or custom applications.
  • Define data quality rules, standards, and metrics to ensure data accuracy and reliability, and implement procedures for data quality tracking and improvement.
  • Create and maintain architecture, systems, and process documentation, and collaborate with the Data Governance Manager to maintain the data catalog.
  • Apply version control, testing, and continuous integration in the data transformation code.
  • Develop advanced analytics and AI solutions based on business needs

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience with the tech stack available at Novartis: AWS, Snowflake, Matillion, Dataiku, Alteryx, Databricks, Bitbucket, and more.
  • Knowledge of best practices in data architecture and management
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to achieve consensus among technical and business teams.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Certification in AWS, Snowflake, Matillion, or other relevant systems.
  • Bilingual: English and French
