Data Governance Manager

About the role:
As part of our dynamic Data Strategy team, you will be the gatekeeper of our data assets, ensuring their consistency, quality, and reliability. Your role will go beyond passive maintenance, as you will pave the way for our data transformation by implementing and operationalizing robust data policies and procedures. You will be handed over the mission to cultivate a culture of data fluency across our organization, demystifying data complexities and fostering an environment where data is an integral part of our decision-making process. You will also be implementing and managing our new data governance platform to ensure high standards of data use within the company.

The role reports directly to the Data Strategy Lead and will work closely with other teams such as, business insights, information technology, and therapeutic areas.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework, procedures, and processes, ensuring data quality and improvement through active data stewardship.
  • Ensure the accuracy, availability, integrity, and standardization of data and analytics assets.
  • Promote data literacy and a culture of data governance within the organization through effective communication, training, and change management initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, classify, and inventory data assets.
  • Implement our data governance platform for metadata management, data lineage, and data quality.
  • Establish data governance roles and responsibilities (data stewards and data owners), providing guidance and support for their successful execution.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies associated with data governance and quality.
  • Working with the data engineer and BI developers, explore existing systems, data, data models, and KPIs, to ensure appropriate documentation and standardization.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Intelligence, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience with data management and governance tools (Collibra), Master Data Management solutions (Reltio), Snowflake, and ETL tools (Alteryx, Dataiku).
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with knowledge of systems and data sources used.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices.
  • Highly skilled in communication and presentation, catering to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Certification in data governance or data management.
  • Bilingual: English and French
